DO LORD

Duration: 2:25
Instrumentation: 5-8 brass, 1 drum kit
Difficulty: Soloists 1/10, Band 6/10

'Do Lord' is an arrangement of the well-known American Spiritual often used in Sunday school and was published by The Salvation Army in the Sing for Joy Young People’s Song Book (290). The music was written for, and premiered by, the YP Band and Learners of the Sydenham Corps (Belfast) in June 2023.

The tune was chosen, in part, for its limited melodic range of a sixth meaning the soloists only needed to play notes from low C to A above. This swing treatment uses the melody three times, paired to the lyrics:

Do Lord, O do, Lord, O do remember me!
Do Lord, O do, Lord, O do remember me!
Do Lord, O do, Lord, O do remember me!
Way beyond the blue!

I've got a home in Gloryland that outshines the sun.
I've got a home in Gloryland that outshines the sun.
I've got a home in Gloryland that outshines the sun.
Way beyond the blue!

I took Jesus as my Saviour, you take him too.
I took Jesus as my Saviour, you take him too.
I took Jesus as my Saviour, you take him too.
Way beyond the blue!

'Do Lord' is published in The First Things First - Premiere Series by Salvationist Publishing and Supplies and can be purchased at your local supplier or online at Salvation Army Music Index.
